Designer Showcase: Port Seattle

The key elements in our Northwest coastal-inspired home is the monochromatic color scheme and the twists and turns in blended style. This modern couple travel and keep things sparingly placed for just the right amount of functionality in their kitchen.

This modern tile backsplash is what is called the “New Traditional” style, where blending tile patterns in marble yields an updated look. Here, the classic diamond is blended with today’s chevron for a calm, ageless repeating pattern.

The focal point of the entire space is the wide open view framed in the hottest trend color in windows today - matte black. Without mullions or muntins, the casement windows are contemporary in look and feel.

The other contemporary touch is the modern solid surface countertop placed on traditional monochromatic cabinetry. This countertop has the look and feel of quartz without the expense and hassle of an engineered stone install.

The decor items that polish off the look are the alabaster pendant; the Asian “found” artwork; and the modern stainless stool. All have the simplicity, sophistication and harmony found in western seaboard design.
