The Perfect Table
Setting a table seems simple, doesn’t it? Gather your linens and dishware count how many guests, and you are pretty much done, right? Well, in this case, no. Each one of these shots presented it’s own dilemma whether it was space or timing or both.
With two of these shots, I was lucky to have Mr. Alex Hayden behind the camera to overcome our some of our physical limitations. We had to squeeze into our living room to shoot the tree on table shot and we had to boom up camera to capture the overhead shots.
Alex was a trooper even when I wanted to rig my Japanese Fukuzumi White Pine as a centerpiece. Nothing is worth doing that isn’t worth overdoing, as they say. So we spent the day ho-ho-ho’ing for our next holiday card.
This was one of the last times I would see Alex. He tragically passed away after an accident this past July. He was a true friend, and I miss him. His hard work was effortless, his friendship meaningful and that will last my lifetime. Hold your friends dear and cherish your family this season no matter how hard it seems to be – we may only have these few moments together.
