VISUALLY BRANDING A 5-STAR RESORT CASE STUDY

SITUATION

Blackberry Mountain, a luxury 5-star new development extension of the highly successful Blackberry Farm brand, was preparing to debut a new website created by marketing firm Ferebee Lane to launch in 2017. This website would be the marquee platform for unveiling the mountain-side retreat to the public and needed to inspire potential homeowners and guests.

OPPORTUNITY

Blackberry Farms turned to Barbara Schmidt/studiobstyle/Big Leo Productions to help develop new visual branding for the Blackberry Mountain website.  To help define the Blackberry Mountain aesthetic, Barbara started with a simple question, “what brands fit and feel right to tell the Blackberry Mountain story to the guest?”

Barbara asked the Blackberry brand owner if certain high-end luxury designers felt like the right mix. Instrumental in building business models with the internationally successful brands, Barbara had a stable of designers to choose from in the luxury home category.

Tapping the Kelly Wearstler design team in Los Angeles, Barbara was able to create a luxurious look and feel for the various areas for the new mountain development. Barbara also sourced high-end goods from a variety of retailers and makers such as hand-made pottery, one of a kind sculptures, and artisan fabrics.

RESULTS

Over the course of a week, Barbara and team brought together visual stories that brought Blackberry Mountain to life. Those stories are now told on Blackberry Mountain website, in print and online.  They sell unique luxury branding experiences to a specialized audience. Already part of an the incredibly successful Blackberry brand, the Blackberry Mountain is continuing the legacy, with nearly 75 percent sold more than 18 months from completion.

 

As a brand partner, the Kelly Wearstler team was invited to share images and assets featuring KW luxury goods in the designer’s digital efforts in the coming year. Cross branding these two in a hybrid visual effort has built successful recognition for both in parallel markets.
